Homewood/Tahoma

One of the best ski areas for beginner skiing and especially children is Homewood Mountain Resort. The surrounding neighborhood also boasts one of the best restaurants in Tahoe: West Shore Café. This wooded west shore neighborhood includes Old Tahoe Cabins amidst updated homes. Approximately 6 miles from Tahoe City along Hwy 89 toward south shore, Homewood also offers easy access to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts. This quaint little neighborhood also has a country store and marinas nearby. Bikes can be rented for a leisurely ride along the bike trails or through the wooded neighborhood. Median home values in this neighborhood are in the mid $500K range.

Off Hwy 89 toward South Lake Tahoe, Tahoma is beyond Homewood and is close to Sugar Pine Park. Tahoma offers some of the most affordable living on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. Popular restaurants include West Side Pizza and West Shore Café. Obexers marina is not far away. Home prices can start in the $200K range while newer homes are slightly more and upwards to the mid $700K range.
